About The Barn at Creacombe Farm
Tucked into the South Hams — that quietly beautiful stretch of Devon between the sea and the southern edges of Dartmoor National Park — Creacombe Farm is the kind of place that people tend to exhale when they arrive. It’s an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you can feel why.
The barn itself is at the heart of what we offer. Thirty metres long, with a striking wooden scissor-frame roof and large windows that let the Devon light do what it does best, it’s a space with genuine character — the sort that takes very little dressing up because it already has plenty of its own.

There’s something about Creacombe Barn that unlocks creativity…
We hire it out for all manner of occasions. Pilates, yoga and fitness classes run here regularly, making the most of the calm and the space. Photographers and filmmakers come for the barn, the lake, the gardens and the grounds — and often end up staying longer than they planned. Corporate groups use it for away days and offsites, finding that a day out here tends to produce rather better conversations than a meeting room ever does.
We host art exhibitions, Christmas fayres and seasonal events, celebration lunches, birthday gatherings, wakes and family reunions. Whatever the occasion, the barn has a knack for making people feel at ease — grand enough to feel special, relaxed enough to feel like your own.
The entrance hall has a cloakroom, there’s a kitchenette at one end of the barn, and parking in the courtyard and on the lane means guests arriving from further afield can come and go without any fuss.
If you’re planning something that calls for a longer stay, we also have two Airbnb properties on the farm, so guests can combine the event space with a night or two in the countryside. It makes for a rather lovely way to spend time together — away from the noise, in a corner of Devon that doesn’t feel like it’s trying very hard to impress anyone, and yet somehow does.

About Penny
I’m a Londoner by birth, a Devon woman by choice — and the longer I’m here, the more certain I am that I made the right call.
I have spent over thirty years working as a project manager, which turns out to be surprisingly good preparation for running an events barn. I’m used to making things happen, keeping a lot of plates spinning, and making sure that whatever I’ve promised actually gets delivered. That hasn’t changed — it’s just that the backdrop has improved considerably.
My husband Robin grew up in the village next door and has always known what a special place it is. It took me a little longer to find my way here, but the South Hams feels like home now in a way that I didn’t entirely expect. We have three grown-up children, and between them and the barn, life is rarely quiet — though the view from the window is.
Opening the barn as an events space felt like a natural next step rather than a dramatic leap. I love meeting new people, I love seeing what this place does to them when they arrive, and I love the fact that every booking brings something a little different through the door — whether that’s a yoga class, a photography shoot, a special lunch, or a company away day.
